Quotes about the Art of Home
Just for fun, here are a few of my favorite quotes about “the art of home”
- “Let’s be cheerful! We have no more right to steal the brightness out of the day for our own family than we have to steal the purse of a stranger. Let us be as careful that our homes are furnished with pleasant and happy thoughts as we are that the rugs are the right colors and texture and the furniture comfortable and beautiful.” – Laura Ingalls Wilder
- “Homemaking is the deliberate cultivation of beauty and productivity in family relationships. Homemaking is about helping your family feel loved and comforted. Homemaking is about celebrating each other, and about caring for each other, as well as for your friends and extended families and even the occasional stranger. Anyone can keep house. Not everyone bothers to make a home.” – Jill Savage
- “The secret of happiness lies in taking a genuine interest in all the details of daily life, and in elevating them to art.” -William Morris
- “The power of finding beauty in the humblest things makes home happy and life lovely“- Louisa May Alcott
- “Mrs. Sharpe believed that details-small personal touches were the essence of gracious living. She loved to surround herself with beauty, and always managed to endow the mundane with a personal flair that transformed housekeeping into the soul craft of home caring…” -Sarah ban Breathnach
- “As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness — just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.”
― Laura Ingalls Wilder - “The sweetest type of heaven is a home where the Spirit of the Lord presides. If the will of God is fulfilled, the husband and wife will respect each other and cultivate love and confidence.” -Ellen White, June 20, 1911
