Finding The Right Road When We Feel Lost
An intersection of 300 N/300 E?  Is this the best road system they can think up…what happened to Presidents and Trees? I’m lost, again, going the same place I’ve gone many times.
How can that be?
300 E, turn onto 350 N, turn onto 375 E, turn onto 400N, then leave via 500 E…
We waste so much time moving forward without knowing where we are going. Â
I spend a lot of time accelerating without a clear picture of where I am headed. Just turn here, I think, I’m bound to get there eventually.
It is easy to waste colossal time and energy. We use our resources, time, and stamina, taking detours that mimic the correct route-yet never take us to our destination.
I tend to get in the car and drive, enjoying the detours and wrong turns. It is exciting to see what life has behind every corner. Excitement doesn’t always pair well with productivity though. It is a struggle to find a balance between the two.
As a communicator, it is essential to find this life of direction. If I speak or write without seeking clarity first, I won’t know where God wants me to go.
I am just speaking to hear my own voice.
We would benefit from asking for direction (1 John 5:14-15), waiting for answers (Isaiah 64:4) and wisdom to understand (James I:5). Then we can boldly act on God’s answers (Proverbs 16:9).
Let us pause, friends, and seek the best way, not just any way to arrive at our destination.
