Laughter is good for the soul in suffering
Laughter is good for the soul in suffering
When difficult seasons in life steal the smile from our face, the song from our spirit, it is devastating.
Laughter feels impossible. But, it’s not.
God’s word has a lot to say about this to encourage us. I believe God uses laughter to spark the smoldering joy into a burning fire of power.
Proverbs 17:22 tells us, A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and doom leave you bone-tired. Where are you today?
If you are bone tired, there IS a way to start the pendulum swinging toward joy. Ask for it.
Tell God you are desperate to feel a light-hearted peace and that your health is suffering. He cares so much!
Laughter is not inappropriate when we feel the weight of life on our shoulders. It is a gift from a generous and loving Creator to help us deal with challenges!
It is good for our health, right there in black and white.
What does the Bible say about laughter?
God promised Job ( 8:21) and Sarah (Genesis 21:6) laughter. He will do it for you too.
I needed it yesterday, and asked earnestly for His presence to be made known to me. He did.
“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” Proverbs 17:22
Turning on iTunes, I searched for a certain worship song called Break Every Chain by Jesus Culture.
Imagine my surprise when I clicked play and got this:
Yeah, I laughed. And you know what?
Laughter is called the best medicine because is spreads throughout your body. Pushing aside the toxic and infusing us with healing.
What is the benefit of laughter?
Life is so fleeting. I don’t want to waste it feeling like I am already dead. I choose to laugh.
It doesn’t mean suffering still is not pounding at the door, but it DOES give us the strength to answer with a smile on our face.
Empowered for another day, because there is power…
Laughing is, and will always be, the best form of therapy- Dau Voire
There is even science that shows laughter really IS good for your health!
Laughter lowers the blood pressure, reduces pain, relaxes our muscles, and burns calories. Laughter enhances our mental health by improving our mood, relieves feelings of anger and frustration, and helps reduces tension. Laughter also increases our energy, inspires hope, and adds joy to our life- Edith Lovett
Enjoy it, chase after it and embrace its gifts today. ♥

Your search for that song and what came up instead just proves that not only does God Himself have a great sense of humor, but He knows just what we need exactly when we need it! Laughter truly is a healing gift! Thanks for sharing!
