Things I’ve learned from Little House on the Prairie
I was delighted at the invitation to guest post on the lasting impact of Laura Ingalls as a woman in my 50s for American Mom.
The lessons were many and came quickly to mind. Not a bad legacy, for a woman who began her writing career to simply offer advice on life and farming. Her collections of earliest writings are deep with her characteristic wisdom.
“ (Ma speaking) We start learning the minute we’re born, Laura. And if we’re wise, we don’t stop until the Lord calls us home.”
― Little House on the Prairie
Later, her daughter sent her mother’s notebooks to publishers. After a few hurdles, those books became beloved classics for generations. Inspiring enough, for a long-running tv series to be created in honor of those stories.
What a surprise many years later through Ancestry to find out we are distant cousins!
Little house on the prairie made a lasting impression
Head on over to American Mom and enjoy the great content. They too focus on womanhood, motherhood, homemaking, family, faith, living, and bridging the gap between women. You’ll enjoy it!
P.S. Someday I hope my little house living, dreams in the country come true! You might chuckle to see how far this goes in A chickenless country girl in the city
