It’s Time to reclaim your joy

reclaim your joy

Remember as a child, when jumping for joy was a literal activity? Adrenaline shot through our body as we leaped and twirled with delight.

Somewhere in adulthood our feet tend to get bogged down in the mire of responsibility. Struggles tether us tightly to the ground, our feet anchors of concrete. Even when exuberant, when is the last time you jumped?

It is still there, that energy. Try it.

So what if you feel awkward at first! A tiny leap is acceptable.

Forward momentum of joy expressed physically, will propel you into freedom.

I jump. Sing. Twirl.

Of course, when I step outside I tone it down a bit. I mean really, it might concern the neighbors to see me jumping my way to the mailbox.

Don’t wait to reclaim your joy

Let me share a secret with you. There are days when I still wear those concrete shoes. They are frigging heavy, cumbersome.

The laces were knotted, but with dedication, they are becoming untangled. Loosening- and in that process, my Spirit is moving uninhibited.

I think of my friend Pamela and her blue toilet seat and I remember to just jump.

Don’t wait until tomorrow. Even if those feet leave the ground only in your mind, it is a start.

  1. Really enjoyed this, Christa! Today my karate instructor informed us we all needed to jump higher. So I tried but I need to figure out how to get the bricks off my feet. 🙂

  2. I wrote a post not too long ago about how there is always a reason to dance…but truly, there is always a reason to jump for joy, too, isn’t there? I need to add a little jumping back into my life for sure. 🙂

    Blessings,
    K 🙂

  3. I am jumping with you Christa. Is there a blue toilet seat in your future?
Today might be a good day to donate your cement shoes to the thrift store. I am going to go and jump my way to the dirty dishes in my kitchen sink now.
I will chose to smile today. ( And, I will get rid of my cement shoes)
