The heartache of starting over
She didn’t belong here.
This ugly God-forsaken place, where the people felt as cold as the climate.
Her children didn’t belong here.
A place where all the other kids grew up together, unused to outsiders.
Her husband belonged here.
But not in his heart. The financial provider required a sacrificial move. The seventh in seven years.
They didn’t belong, at first.
She taught her children to never give up, because they belonged to her. To God.
She encouraged her husband. No matter what, he belonged to her. To God.
God whispered to her, “You belong to me first. You are never alone, even when you are lonely”.
Time passed, things changed.
Beauty grew in the cracks of life, hearts melted and welcomed.
They saw people as beautiful.
People saw them as precious.
They belonged.

A beautiful post, Christa. I particularly love these words, “Beauty grew in the cracks of life”. So true. Beauty and grace enter into our broken places. Our hearts melt when we are confronted by them. I’m glad your story had a happy ending. Though, even if other people may reject us, there is always a ‘Welcome’ mat ready to invite us into God’s presence. Thank you for sharing 🙂 xx
ahhh, Joy. So true
