The Symphony Of Breeze

The Symphony Of Breeze

The Symphony Of Breeze

Last night I heard it. Finally.

I jumped for the TV remote to mute it during a family show and eagerly asked, “Do you hear THAT???

The sound of the fall breeze pushing its way through the fading leaves.

How many leaves must rustle together, their newly crisped edges touching their neighbors, to create the symphony of breeze? How many combinations of sound are we surrounded by, unaware of the complicated connection of their countless melodies?

The sound of wind has always been a favorite sensory experience. When we moved to the Midwest, our yard was in a former cornfield. One courtesy tree per front lawn.  In other words, no leafy songs to comfort me.

I hadn’t realized how powerfully connected I was to those sounds, until they were suddenly gone from my world. What I’d always taken for granted, no longer available.

Then, one tiny flying leaf from the front yard became a sprout in the backyard. Near our windows. It grew and flourished. We planted a few fruit trees. And they continue to grow.

“Symphonies begin with one note; fires with one flame; gardens with one flower; and masterpieces with one stroke.”
― Matshona Dhliwayo

So my longing has been fulfilled once again. That sound. The symphony of breeze.

God gave me a gift, through no effort of my own, to replace part of what was lost to me in this move.

A small thing? Perhaps. But He knows what delights us, and HE delights to give it to His friends.

  1. Flowers.

We’ve lived in this house for 16 years, but until the last two years we had too many trees to get a good place to plant flowers. I’m adding some a few each year now as an ice storm took down a pine that was in the way.

I planted 28 narcissus (what I call buttercups). Now I have something to look forward to in the spring. The deer came through and ate the tops off of my tulips right before they bloomed this spring – except one, but I read they don’t eat narcissus as they are poisonous to deer.

    1. Eva, what an inviting sounding home you have! We don’t have deer near my yard, but do have rabbits that top off the good stuff. I am glad you found a simple joy that the deers don’t en-joy

  2. Hi.
Anyone knows of great touch typing apps for iPad? One of my friend’s kids need for their toddlers. I have currently recommended them Typing Fingers by Foriero as I have personally used it. It is by far the best I have come across. It is interactive, fun and graphical. It has 32 structured levels and is available in seven languages. Here is the link if any one of you wants to try:

If someone has a better alternative than this app then please let us know. I would be awaiting for your replies.
