The Truth About The Human Heart
Spring is drawing near.
I peer closely at a bulb that had been set to take root in a vase since Christmas. Change is happening.
Kind of like with people, I think.
We start off with lots of layers, and with time and care they start to soften, revealing the beauty inside.
Bit by bit, the outer casing flakes off, and the life within becomes the people we want to be.
Are designed to be.
Roots reach out, searching for connection with nutrients.
We reach out, searching for connection with those who nurture us.”
Then, one day, the inner beauty starkly contrasts with the old, ugly layers.
The tender shoots become the main attraction.
Beauty outshines the shell.
The dull, protective layers know it is time to release life.
The bulbs that fooled our eyes with ugliness, now stun us with beauty.
Regal and fragrant and full of color.
Beauty was always there, within. It just takes time to become what it is meant to be.
Just like the human heart. It shelters our deepest offerings. Yet, new life springs forth as the layers fall away.
