Why I still love america- looking for the good in a hurting country
My husband has been wanting a flagpole for years. He received one for his birthday, and set about in 107° to install it. He loves his country. And so do I.
We are proud of the foundations of America.
There’s so much ugliness going on right now, things that are shameful. We both had military fathers and were taught why this country is worth fighting for.
There is no perfect country
There are ugly stains on every civilization’s scorecard. Including ours. But, that’s not a complete story. It grieves us that young people are being taught that our country sucks.
Without balance of truth and all the amazing, good things that make people want to move here so desperately from around the world.
Freedom is a beautiful principle of America
Freedom is an amazing gift. I’m in the DAR because I’m fascinated with ancestors that were willing to sacrifice everything for the principles of the constitution.
I read a really interesting article, I’ll put a link here if you’d like to read it.
We are celebrating Independence Day this weekend with joy, and I hope that you have a wonderful, safe, and blessed time also!
Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness
“We can’t love what we don’t know, and we can’t treasure what we don’t love.
Abraham Lincoln once deemed the United States “the last best hope of earth.” If we wish to keep that hope alive, if we wish to breathe new life into our American ideals—“life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” as our Declaration of Independence declares—we must revive our love for our country and pass those affections along to the next generation.”- Jeff Minick
Love America
Friends, there are some truly significant things going on in our country that need change.
We have the responsibility to go to actual sources and not jump on bandwagons of disrespect about America.
Sidenote: politicians and talking heads with talking points do NOT represent the wonderful things about our country.
“Distrust naturally creates distrust, and by nothing is good will and kind conduct more speedily changed.” – John Jay
There is a theme of selective outrage (my opinion) and the seeking of offense.
Everyone matters, and without the freedom we are blessed with, no one would have a right to express those views.
I still love America, because she is amazing.
